Camper Re-Do

I was flipping through Amy Butler's Midwest Modern book the other day- and came across images of her old jeep / camping setup. It got me thinking that I need to re-fabric the interior of my tent trailer. I think this weekend we will pop that baby open, and I will start sewing away to get my tent trailer looking more Amy Butler-ish!

I haven't decided on the exact fabric I will use, but I have decided that I will mix in Amy's print fabrics along with some solid (perhaps linen) color fabric. Too much print can be overwhelming for me. We'll see though, it's possible I will go crazy in that little camper.

MAKE IT! Monday.

I'm such a dork that I forgot to hit publish post on this yesterday! Sorry sooo late.

Hi All! It's Monday again, fortunately for the majority of you in the 9-5 working world- it's a holiday- Yippee! I hope you all are relaxing and enjoying your extended weekend. I am busy re-designing my etsy shop. After much thought I have decided to change the name of my esty shop to Simply Heddy Shea- this way I can incorporate all of my stores under this one brand rather than creating several etsy shops, and it will be easier to find me. Does this make sense???

While I am busy preparing my new store I thought I would post on Amy Butler who creates fabulous fabric, patterns, and much, much more. I am really craving her fabric for some ideas I have in my studio, but for now I will just dream.

Here is a photo of a new piece of art I created for my studio. I purchased a used frame from our local Goodwill- cost: $2.00- can't beat that kind of find! Then I spray-painted the frame in a high gloss black, used fabric scraps for the panels, cut out a dachshund silhouette, and hand-stenciled Oliver! I am quite pleased with this piece. So pleased in fact that these will also be available in my etsy shop. I'm thinking of calling this art "RuffArt". These can be created with a color palette of your choice. Additionally a silhouette of your dog as well as their name will be created. I will also have several frame colors to choose from. But the best part of all... I will be donating 25% of proceeds to the Nevada Humane Society. Visit my etsy shop if you are in need of "RuffArt" of your very own!

New Studio- Needs Color!

So this is my new studio. My old studio was the garage- that's right I get shoved into the garage- not for long though-It was getting way too cold to be working out there, plus I need a cool space to be creative- not a dingy garage! Anyway this is the bare bones of my studio. It needs desperate help with color.

These are the rooms that I like and am using for inspiration.

I really like the color combinations in the photo above. I have such a hard time deciding on color. I get sick of it way too fast, but I want to really have a different vibe in my studio compared to the rest of our home.

This is an Amy Butler room. The image was taken at a textile / quilt trade show. You gotta love Amy Butler- she is so talented and I absolutely love her style. She has got a great book out called Midwest Modern. You can order it through Amazon- actually I need to add it to my Amazon list of books. I checked it out a couple of weeks ago while visiting Borders and it is on my must-have list! I really like this image because it is so calming, but I think I might get bored with that look too. I just love the small hints of brown in the baskets.

The final image is the studio / creative center (probably one of many) for Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic empire. I totally love the casual, slip-covered style she is so famous for. This is one of my many problems I love way too many looks. I finally had to decide on a style for my house, but damn I wished I owned several so they could all be decorated different.

So if you have any suggestions on my studio design or color selections I would love to hear them. If not, I will post my final studio photos within the next few weeks and keep you guessing on what I decided until then!
