I woke up extra early this morning and started searching through flickr. I was on the hunt for the perfect images of beets- and I have found just the images I was hoping for. La Tartine Gourmande is my new food blog crush! Beatrice Peltre is the sensational woman behind this site and she works as a "food stylist/photographer/writer". She is FABULOUS! I can't believe I let the days escape me without posting. I have been busy, busy helping my mom with her new place, and time just flew by! Forgive me? Please! Because I have missed so many days- I've decided to make a combination post for today... sound good?

My Mom Made It Monday!

I have been seeing union jack pillows popping up here and there, and wishing I had my very own. I made a point of telling my mom about my latest desire, and what do ya know... my mom surprised me with her handmade version of the pillow as a thank you gift for all the help I've given her! I am so happy with her creation. Not only do I love the pillow because my mom made it, but it incorporates vintage fabric from my grandmothers collection, as well as a vintage angel pendant that belonged to my great-grandmother. So very special to me!

I am trying to encourage my mom to open an etsy shop with her pillow creations- wouldn't you buy one??

WedETSYday on Thursday!

I perused etsy last night and found a few more lovelies and a yummy to add to my wish list. I am definitely ready for some spring weather, I think all the brown that I have been surrounded by is getting to me. I found these photographs on etsy, and they immediately lifted my spirit. All three images are the work of Irene Suchocki of isphotography. Irene is the "purveyor of little poems for the eyes". Isn't that the sweetest quote. When I read that on her etsy shop I just had to smile.

These vintage inspired tags are the fabulous work of Angela Harris. It was difficult to select just a few images, but I'm sure you will fall for her work based just on these three. I was reading the description of Angela's damask hang tag- here is what it says: "each of these tags was individually cut, punched, strung, coffee dyed and stamped". Can you believe she does all that for such a fabulous price? Check her out- really, you must!

My third and final pick for this weeks etsy post are actually yummies. I probably should have waited until tomorrow for "Food Friday", but I couldn't resist. Whimsy and Spice Brooklyn Confectioners make these to die for looking treats. I couldn't have a bigger sweet tooth. I actually think I dream of nothing but sweets and what I will eat on my cheat day! For this coming cheat day (which is supposed to be Sunday, but ends up being Friday night, Saturday and Sunday) I must have these "Hazelnut Chocolate Whiskey Sandwich Cookies"- YUM!

Saturday Sadness

I don't usually post on the weekend, but felt it necessary after opening my mail this morning. I have been devastated over the "passing" of my dear friends Domino and Cottage Living magazine. Now, to add to this pain I have just received the final issue of Country Home magazine. If you are anything like me - you live for the weekend when you can crack open your latest edition of one of your fave magazines while sipping coffee under a warm, cozy blanket. While this process is usually quite drawn out, today I feel so devastated I might just make the process an entire day event with intermittent sobbing. How are we magazine junkies supposed to survive without our nourishment. I am this close to the edge of despair. The only magazine keeping me alive right now is Country Living. Please keep this magazine in your thoughts, and hope for the best!

Food Friday!

I absolutely love figs! I love them on pizza, as a spread, in a salad, with cheese, etc. etc! Because I have such a love for this fruit I thought I would share the following images to encourage all of you to give figs a chance. Enjoy, and have a wonderful weekend!

Hello There Cuties! How is everyone today??? I'm doing quite well- actually a little pleased to see some sunshine! Are you all craving some new finds? Hope so, because I have some special treats for you! Every week it is so difficult to decide which shops to blog on WedETSYday, there are just too many talents. However, I feel confident that my shop selections will be loved by you- as they are by me- and hopefully we have the same taste!
For starts, here are photos of Vandalized Vintage Trixie Delicious hand painted plates. I love when opposites attract- and these plates do just that. I really, really need that "Punk ass" plate.

I don't know if you all know yet, but I am obsessed with yummy, smelly stuff. I have a desire to start my own line of scrubs, balms, lotions, etc. But, because I have so many projects going at this moment, I think this venture will have to wait until late spring, summer, or,???? Anyway, I am really anticipating summer's arrival, and these products seem perfectly suited for that time of year! These images are from Naiad Soap Arts- don't they look d'lish- you want these products don't you!

My third and final is Made by Hank, what can I say about this seriously talented purse designer? She does fabulous work- but I think the photos speak for themselves. Everything is sooo damn adorable and detailed. You know how I love details! Check out the madebyhank wooden tag and the hand sewn logo- I am in purse / designer / artist envy!

MAKE IT! Monday.

I'm such a dork that I forgot to hit publish post on this yesterday! Sorry sooo late.

Hi All! It's Monday again, fortunately for the majority of you in the 9-5 working world- it's a holiday- Yippee! I hope you all are relaxing and enjoying your extended weekend. I am busy re-designing my etsy shop. After much thought I have decided to change the name of my esty shop to Simply Heddy Shea- this way I can incorporate all of my stores under this one brand rather than creating several etsy shops, and it will be easier to find me. Does this make sense???

While I am busy preparing my new store I thought I would post on Amy Butler who creates fabulous fabric, patterns, and much, much more. I am really craving her fabric for some ideas I have in my studio, but for now I will just dream.

Here is a photo of a new piece of art I created for my studio. I purchased a used frame from our local Goodwill- cost: $2.00- can't beat that kind of find! Then I spray-painted the frame in a high gloss black, used fabric scraps for the panels, cut out a dachshund silhouette, and hand-stenciled Oliver! I am quite pleased with this piece. So pleased in fact that these will also be available in my etsy shop. I'm thinking of calling this art "RuffArt". These can be created with a color palette of your choice. Additionally a silhouette of your dog as well as their name will be created. I will also have several frame colors to choose from. But the best part of all... I will be donating 25% of proceeds to the Nevada Humane Society. Visit my etsy shop if you are in need of "RuffArt" of your very own!

It's Food Friday! (What are you craving for Valentine's Day?)

It's Food Friday and Valentine's Day is one day away! Are you having a hard time deciding what to bake?Hopefully, you are baking and not purchasing your goodies. Baking your treats is much more romantic than store bought, plus the scent will linger in the air for hours and hours- Yum! I was talking to my sister yesterday about our Valentine's menu, and I decided to steal her idea of crab legs, salad, french bread and chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert! My friend Steph was tempted by s'mores brownies- that sounds really yummy, yum too! To help inspire your baking adventure today or tomorrow I have compiled a few photos of some D'lish desserts!

Hi all! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was a busy girl trying out some new ideas I've had. But, here I am with some lovelies for today's Etsy post! I love scouring through etsy checking out other artists. Sometimes it can be discouraging because there are so many talented artists, but it can also be very inspirational!

As you know, my husband gave me a camera for Christmas. I am still in the process of learning how to take half way decent photos. I like to see how other people photograph their art for Etsy. I came across this site and absolutely love the eye Carl Christensen has for photography. Carl's Etsy store is Buck's County Frames where he sells eco-friendly frames, photography, illustrations and note-cards.

My dog Oliver is a dachshund and when I saw this picture it brought the biggest smile to my face!

One of my goals (after opening my own boutique) is to purchase an old Ford, or GMC like the one pictured below. I want to fix it all up, paint it black, turquoise, or tan then have my logo painted on the side. I envision driving around town visiting farmer's markets, flea markets, going on picnics with my dogs in the back and just enjoy myself in my cool ride.

My second Etsy artist is Holly Strate of HollyHawk. I have been designing shabby-chicish and burlap/leather bracelets as of late, and as with everything I make I like to check out other artists. I came across Holly's work yesterday and decided I must, must, must have one of her FABULOUS bracelets. You can tell Holly puts a lot of time and energy into her designs and I love every detail.

MAKE IT! Monday.

Happy Monday to you all! It's snowing here today and I'm loving it. Something about the winter weather makes me smile. Perhaps it is the smell of a wood-burning fire (even though I don't have one), or the smell of home-made cookies, or the big fluffy socks and pj's that you can wear around the house!

I was going through my archived photos of stuff I've made, and came across these pics of pillows from a couple years back. I had such a great time making these pillows for each of my nieces. As you can see I have three different styles.

The picture below are the pillows I made for my niece Cassidy- and I refer to them as "Old Hollywood Glam".

The next photo are pillows I did for my niece Shea and I refer to these as "Boho".

In addition to the two pillows I made for each of them, I also made matching valances as shown in the picture below.

Finally, these are the pillows I made for my niece Andy, and refer to them as "Urban Edge".

I chose to blog about pillows on this "Make It Monday" to inspire others. Pillows are one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a room. Additionally, each of the fabrics used in the pillows shown were purchased on clearance. With a little imagination, you can make your own version of an Anthropologie pillow for a fraction of the cost. The most expensive purchase was the bead encrusted ribbon on the Old Hollywood silver pillow, which was $6.00. Other than that each pillow was made for less than $5.00, and I still have fabric left over.

Shop Love

I have already started my day dreaming and it's only 6 am. I am desperately wanting my own shop. A shop where I can display beautiful handmade items from artists around the world (and of course my own creations). I envision a brick building with a blue wooden door where the paint is chipping. There is an old cruiser bike propped up outside, and flower boxes are hanging from beneath the vast amount of windows. Inside the smell of my Moody Bitch products are wafting through the air and my dogs are lazily spread out on their doggy beds.

These images are from Ink and Peat, a fairly new store that opened in Portland, Or. I am in love with this space and want it for myself! If you are ever in Portland make sure and stop by, I'm sure you will find plenty of goodies. Also, check out Ink and Peat's blog - Housemartin. Pam, the owner and floral designer pays such attention to detail, and has an awesome talent for creating the perfect vignettes. I'm drooling, truly I am. Someday- right???
